Does anyone know if they make a portable data collector that can run a windows product written in foxpro? I have written a program that verifies that that stock the operator is using goes with the job he/she is running. I would like to upload the data base to a portable unit and run my software on it. It uses barcode scanning to match the stock to the job number so no data entry is needed. This runs great on our network but I don't want to have to put PC's on the production floor. I would need the ability to upload the database during the day as new jobs are added. Any help would be great!

First see if you can convert your FoxPro to run on Windows CE.
If so then you will have a whole host of portable devices to choose from. Windows CE devices are not cheap though. $400 and up.
Or find a portable PC that runs Windows 9x or something.
There are viewer of these and the cost in in the thousands.

I would look at a laptop for the cost.
