Is there a way I can monitor a port on my server for activity? I'm running an email server and I'm having a problem with the amount of maximum connections I allow over SMTP. I'm not sure if I'm getting some type of attack on the machine, or if there is something wrong with the settings in the email software.
One of the staff members that works for MDaemon (my email software) has told me that sometimes the OS refuses to release the connection. I would like to check to see if this is indeed happening, or if it's a problem with MDaemon, or an attack, etc.
I can check the amount of connections currently connected to port 25 through the email software, but I would like another way just so I know it's correct.

Please Help.
