In our production environment we have two Catalyst 1924XL switches setup in a redundant scenario with our servers spread across the two. I have this basic setup. Each switch has a server on port 3 and then ports 23 & 24 are setup in a port group (FastEtherChannel). Port 3 is in VLAN 5 and Ports 23 & 24 are trunk ports.
I need to sniff the traffic on the switches to diagnose a problem. However, I cannot tell ahead of time to which server the traffic will go and therefore which switch the traffic will pass through. Is it possible to setup port monitor to get all traffic on VLAN 5 on both switches with just on sniffer on say port 8 of switch 1?
Thanks,
