Hi Everyone,

I am a Fireworks 4 user and am interested in creating Pop Up Menus using only images(Graphics for the links). Is this possible in Fireworks 4 or are only text based Pop Up Menus available?

I would greatly appreciate any help on this. Thanks in advance.
Tim

Hello Tim!

Sure it's possible.
1) create button (select object > Insert > Convert to Symbol...);
2) click the circle at the center of the button;
3) select "Add Pop-up Menu...";
4) add all necessary links and click Next;
5) select Images radio-button at the top of this wizard window.

That's all :)

Good Luck!

Hey Eugene,
Thanks for responding; I believe this is what I have been doing. I was wondering if there was a way to use only graphics (not only for the background of the pop up links but the actual links as well). Basically, I would like to be able to have anti aliased text for my pop up menus' links. By selecting images in the wizard, does it convert the text I choose to images or just allow for a background image with HTML text over it? If the text does convert to imasges, is there a way to edit these images and make them how I want them to look?

I'd appreciate any help on this.

Hi again Tim!

I always thought that if you create pop-up menus using images (as I wrote above) FW will make this pop-up complitely as graphic, both background and text. But I just checked it and the truth is that you are right! It uses images only for background but not for text :-(

I see two solutions:

1) create separate images as menu elements and change fw_menu.js file to use your images instead of its default.

2) create something like pop-up menu in FW using frames. When I used FW 3.0 that didn't have pop-up menu feature I usually did it.

That's all I see for now :)

Good Luck!

Thanks for the help Eugene,
I will give it a try and let you know if it works out. I was hoping for a simpler solution. Maybe Fireworks 5 :)
