I noticed that my DIA 1721 has recently tied up a lot of memory. Normally, only like 5MB is used. Here is the only noticable change when I do a show proc memory...

Total: 16908376, Used: 11774624, Free: 5133752

5 0 321176 154556 48688 119584 204800 Pool Manager

I noticed that the CPU peaked at like 80% last night while I was sleeping. As far as the logs go, Ill have to post them later if needed. My question is, what does it mean when the Pool Manager process looks like that? What are the possible causes? Is there also a Cisco link that explains the different processes in detail, and each one does? Thanks

I just did a "show ip nat translations", and my router almost blew up.

My 1721 had one of my addresses listed under the "Inside Local" column almost infinately it seemed. I am assuming that is a sign that the device with that address has a virus? Ive never seen a "never ending" NAT translations output before, all from the same IP address. I checked the Cisco site for possible answers to that, but couldnt find anything. Other than a possible virus on that specific device, what other signs does that output have?

Thanks

As you seem to be aware, the recent spate of worms that affected Microsoft machines have been indirectly affecting the performance of low end Cisco routers. If cleaning up viruses does not fix your problem, you could tune buffers on your router to improve performance. Search on the Cisco web site for 'buffer tuning'.

Sorry for posting a reply to this thread but I have been attempting to reach you with regards to your post about "Free Internet access in Hotels" I am particularly interested in the Netronix line of HPNA equipment you cited in your posts but cannot find any distributors in the US. Do you know of any? Can you point me to their web address or know of how I could get a hold of them? Additionally, I was wondering about aaa software that can bill for Internet usage. Is this available by Netronix themselves or a third party? Any help would greatly be appreciated. I can also be reached by EM : cimeron at ragingbull.com Thanks.
