Hi guys, just purchased (2) Soundstation 2 Nortel digital units because I thought they were supposed to work with Nortel PBX's emulating the Model 2616 phone. I copied/pasted another thread's response on Soundstation 2 compatibility but I'm still confused, will the CS1000E (5.5) work with this Polycom conference phone?
When I installed it I had dial tone, could accept incoming calls, but when I tried dialing out it was very odd. It seemed to take the first 3 to 4 digits just to break dial tone but then it wouldn't dial the desired extension, I received intercept recording (not a valid extension). Then it seemed as if the dial tone volume was increasing each time I pressed 7 (our leading digit for extension). I think I actually got it to work one time with a strange "777" then the 5 digit extension. Could not duplicate again.
I called Polycom but that was a joke. No help at all, no clue at all and they told me to call Nortel.
Well, I took an old 2616 phone and put it in place of the Polycom unit and it worked great.
What am I doing wrong or will this unit even work with the CS1000E?
I am so disappointed that there is zero documentation and zero help from Polycom. I am trying to exchange these for the VTX analog versions but thought I'd pass it through you guys. Thanks.
SoundStation2 Direct Connect is
compatible with any digital voice port
on NORTEL® Meridian®, Meridian
1 (option 11 to 81), SL-1, or SL-100
PBX with the exception of those supporting
MBS (CENTREX®) phone
sets. In addition to the basic product
functions, it supports two special functions
- Conference and Transfer - in
the same manner as the default M2616
