One of our remote offices running R012x.02.0.111.4 is asking for an IP conference phone. We've received quotes for Polycom 4000's, 6000's and 7000's. I just want to verify compatability with the system before we make a choice.

Is there any reason we should not purchase any of these phones?

Once we have one, what "Type" do we use when programming the station?

Those are all video conferencing systems, they have very little to do with the phone switch. If you have an ISDN PRI with AT&T or Sprint, you MAY be able to install an ISDN BRI board and use the PRI to make video calls, but your PRI must be conditioed to use 64K data per call, and only those from AT&T and Sprint even have a chance at working with 64K/channel calls.

Mostly, those Polycoms would be setup on your LAN/WAN, and most would use the Internet for making calls. If you are going to use your phone switch, like I said, you need very specific carriers to be able to do that. Frankly, its cheaper to just get 3 or 4 BRI's from your local telco, than deal with the high costs of getting PRI's from AT&T / Sprint.
