I have a need to restrict the maximum attachment size for outbount email - but I would like to specify a few users for which this policy would not take effect. Is there a way to do this either in ESM or by use of a 3rd party app/tool/plugin?

A user yesterday (tried to) send an email with a 7MB attachment out to approx. 100 recipients. This is not the first time this has happened. It is easy to prevent this - but there are a few other users who periodically do need to send out a large attachment to one or two recipients for whom I would not like the restriction to affect.

Add on question: Are there features in Exchange 2003 that add this functionality? Is there a way to utilize group policy to enforce this?

Thanks!

You use SM to set a default, and then you can override those defaults using ADUC for specific users.

Thanks! I was so buried in ESM that I never bothered to look in ADUC.

Not a problem. And also, the changes you make in ADUC may take a bit to propogate, so don't think it's not working if you make a change and don't see it go into effect immediately.
