Pointing Device Error

I was testing an OLD PC at home when it came up with "Pointing Device Error" during Boot Up. The lights are flashing on my key board but nothing happens or the keyboard did not respond to me when I Press F1 to get into BIOS. It is an old IBM computer with PS/2 mouse and keyboard. By the way I did not connect my mouse because I forgot to take it home with me would that be the problem?

Please help

Did you make sure the keyboard is plugged into the KEYBOARD jack?

Sure... if it is not .. I don't think I will be able to see lights on the keyboard eh?
