I have a 3300 6.0 SP3 and I would like to use the PMS simulator to send a DND on/off. The latest one I have does not have that capability, is there one with this built in?
If this can be done with the existing simulator and the scripting feature that would be helpfull if someone knows if the DND on/off can be done with that function

Ok, lets step back a moment.

What are you trying to accomplish? Not "how do I get this tool to do what I want" but "here's what I want to do, how would you do that"?

try to turn on and off "do not disturb" with the pms emulator

Ok, sorry, Is there a reason you want to do this with the emulator rather than the dozen other ways it can be done?

it does seem like an odd request but this is for a hospital that uses the pms to control the patient rooms, when the room is vacant or the patient does not subscribe to phone service they cannot call out but callers can still call in normally thru the auto attendant like they do if the phone is rented or not. I want to restrict callers from calling in when the phone is not rented. I realize that with pms when a phone is changed to vacant the DND and all other features are deactivated but I want the ability to activate DND after the room is switched to vacant. This is our pms system but before development of this feature I would like to be able to test this some how, say in the future if there is an issue, and the pms simulator tool has saved me many times.

Context is soooo important.

I take it this is not a 3300?

If 3300, have you considered the Specified COS method using permanent DND for vacant rooms?

it is a 3300 for sure, I am not aware that the option you mentioned is for vacant rooms. I have read the docs under cos - advanced and found this:

Do Not Disturb Permanent
Select "Yes" to allow a station to be permanently set in Do Not Disturb. It eliminates the need to dial the do not disturb feature access code.

if permanently in Do Not Disturb the patient would not get calls when the phone is checked in

possibly I am looking in the wrong place, can you direct me in the right location for this option? If that is possible that would be the answer for sure, thanks in advance

There you go forcing me to look in the manual. Good thing though as I was leading you off track. turns out that I thought you could change the COS of the room phone based upon checked-in checked-out status.

Not all the news is bad though. There is another function that could prove to be just as effective.

You can invoke the Call Block feature based upon checked-in / checked-out

I have done the call block feature but it doesn't work in my scenario, I failed to mention the patient has to call one number to gain service (sorry should have mentioned that) so the call block prohibits that, the only other way as far as I can figure is DND. That is why I was wondering if in the pms simulator with the scripts function if DND could be simulated there. I believe we can develop the pms to send DND after the checkout but I would want to be able to isolate the pms system with the simulator. Does anyone know if there is a doc on the scripts function of the pms simulator?

You can design the call block to allow some and not others

Are you familiar with how interconnect restrictions work?

The Call block can be defined for Allowed and Denied interconnections.

I thought I was familiar and did try that but it didn't work for me, I do still have lots to learn about the 3300 though. I just thought of something, since the callers call the auto attendant and then dial the room number if I made the voicemail (embedded)the same interconnect as the rooms and make that interconnect the affected the caller should not be able to call the checkout room, that way I don't have to play around with DND. I am going to try that.

There's probably at least 5 other ways to do this as well.

One example would be you use a configurable autodialer connected to an analog line that would dial the remote DND code.

thanks for all your input kwbMitel, I have programmed it as i mentioned in my last post and so far with my testing it is doing exactly what I need it to do. I will do more testing and post my results.

I said I would update when tested and the testing was completed yesterday, finally. I was able to accomplish my scenario by making the patient rooms and voicemail the same interconnect and in the PMS call block affected interconnect make it the one I assigned to patient rooms and voicemail. When I stepped back and thought about it, it wasn't that difficult, I was making it harder than it really was.

Yay

pandabear, just make sure that you do not block emergency call routes (internal or 911 depending on the hospital requirements) especially if nurses do not have some form of way to call for help. reason workplace safety. Have been down this road before prior to nurses having wireless pendent call system.
