Hi,

we're using IP Office already a few years and since the beginning we have surious issues with Phone Manager.

Whatever, you change in the preferences, PM does not 'remember' it upon the next launch of the PM. Even after changing some preferences, and saving the profile manually, it says "profile succesfully saved" but ... after exiting the program and relaunching it, PM comes back with the "old" preferences. Same goes for speeds dials, if you create some speed dials, the're gone upon the next launch of the rpogram. We have this issue on all of our 50 computers which are in a domain and running with normal user rights.

are the profiles saved in users local documents folder or their redirected Home folder on the file server?

have you checked permissions? have there been any windows updates recently?

if you rename the "Profiles" folder to Profiles.old, and relaunch PM will it re-create the folder?

profiles are locally stored in the My Documents folder

- permissions in the folder are OK
- I deleted the folder Profile and yes it is re-created.
- windows updates is disabled on all of our PC's

ok - so now you have created new profiles, do you have the same issue

also does "Domain Users" or "Users" have local Administrative rights?

jajest this is an issue local to you/your network I imagine, I have not seen this before unless they are using roaming profiles (which isn't supported). Why wait a few years to post the question? We can't say if this is likely a bug unless you post software levels. Either way the equipment will be long overdue an upgrade if it hasn't been touched since it went in :)

Is this happening to everyone?, I've seen it sometimes when the check box for "remember password" at the log-in screen is left unchecked, and it has caused a few weird issues.

you can disable some features of pm on the user in the manager.

after recreating the new profile folder, the issues are still the same. Also i forget to mention that incoming & outgoing calls are not stored. Our domain users do not have local admin right on their pc's. A program good program does not need admin right to use it (only to install it).

@catonkeyboard
the case that I explained here is one of the worst. WE do have PM problems in 50% of our pc's or even more. Something that happed frequently is that users are creating speed dials, end then on a beautifull day (for example after 6 months or more or less) user call me to say that all of his speed dials are 'gone'. This happen very frequently without any reason. Nothing changed to that pc, no change also in user rights... all of a sudden, speed dials are gone. We have only negative experiences with PM.

>profiles are locally stored in the My Documents folder

Are you sure about this - is the my Documents folder rediercted?

Do you have off lien fiel synch running.

I think this that this knid of behaviour can be caused by PM starting up and trying to read its profile before the PC is fully up and running (particularily the networks stack)

I'd try taking the PM out of the start-up menu and leaving it as an icon on the desktop for people to manaually start up. This will at least help to diagnose the issue.

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

this isnt a problem with phone manager. phone manager has been around for a long long time and its generally an very stable and easy to use program.

what i suggest is try installing it on a pc / laptop not in the domain and see if it works outside of the domain OK. if so, you then know where to start looking.
