Pls help : AIX 5L - 9i & 8i on same node

Hi All,

I would like to get understanding on the below issue.

1. They have an instance 8.1.7.4 32bit version on 32bit kernel mode running at the moment on 64bit hardware. They want to know whether they can install 9.2.0.x 64bit on 32bit kernel mode on a 64bit hardware.

2. Secondly if they update the 64bit kernel mode & install 9.2.0.x on 64bit kernel mode on 64bit hardware what happens to 8.1.7.4 32bit version should they apply the patch 2896876 on 8.1.7.4 32bit version to make the 8i executable as 64bit.

Please help me in understanding the above issue which option is better & why in brief. Appreciate if anyone has undergone this issue before to shed light . Thanks in advance.
