Please recommend a Cisco switch, signed 3Com 1

I've had it with 3Com switches. Too many failures. I'm hip to Cisco's PIX firewalls - we have 5 520's and 2 506E's. I like the Cisco view of the universe and would like to replace a set of 4 3Com 4400 24-port 10/100 ethernet switches with a Cisco model. Preferably a model I'm likely to find on eBay, my fav-o-rite computer store!

Any recommendations? Software versions to avoid or desire? I'm new to the Cisco switch world....

Well depends on what you're looking for

3550's are sweet switches.. but if you need more beef, then 4500's or 6500's are the way to go..

I would also look for the brand new 3750 switches. Have some nice features regarding QoS.

What you'll find on ebay that is equal to the superstack II switches are the 2924XL or 3524XL or 3548XL. Actually, they are better than the 3coms in a lot of ways, but close to the feature set.

If you need layer 3 routing capabilities, then you'll need a 3550, 3750, 4000 series, 6500 series switch. Most likely for only 4 * 24 ports you probably won't need them.
