Please help!

Running samba on AIX v5.2. I have found that if I start smb and nmb as daemons at say 8am, uses seem to be able to connect. But sometime thoughout the day they lose their connections and then cant reconnect UNLESS I end the running smb/nmb jobs and restart them again.

Weird and of course since samb and unix are involved the lazy network engineers who are anti-anything that doesnt start with MS totally refuse to even begin to think its anyones issue but the unix type folks.

I cannot help your situation.
But I feel compelled to let you know your subject is too vague for most in this forum. I would change the subject to something like "losing connection during the day" or "having to restart daemon's ??"

What do your samba log file(s) show?

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
