I am using Veritas Net Backup 4.5 FP6 on a Windows 2000 server SP4. The 200 GB LTO HP branded tapes. I have an HP MSL5000 tape library with 4 drives. I am getting a read error status 85 when reading one of my tapes. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Any help would be great

Tape is tapes, errors will happen from time to time. Try doing a verify on the tape.

That's fairly common. Try cleaning the tape drive and rerunning with the same tape. If it fails with a media error three times, lose the tape

It might be worth going FP8. I did this in a couple of stages last week, piece of cake, but then i have a fairly straightforward setup. I used to suffer mainly from Positioning errors. Touch wood that's gone away but as i say it's only been a week.

You should also check your cleaning tape config. For LTO's for instance you shouldn't have cleaning frequencies setup in NetBackup. I only mention this as i mistakenly set cleaning frequencies up after a migration from DLT drives
