Im am very new at using Quark Xpress for my company. I designed a letterhead and sent it over to the printer without knowing what to send. The printer just called me and said its in RGB mode but she needs it in Spot Color Black I guess. I don't even know where to start. Do I have to start all over? What do I have to click? Im so frustrated. Please help me if you can.

When sending anything colour to the printer. it has to be in CMYK
(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) these colours are in you colour pallet "F12"
RGB (Red, Green are Blue) are also there, but should not be used, because the printer only prints CMYK. You will have to change the colours you used, RGB, to CMYK.
If you don't know what a spot colour is then there is a good chance you haven't used it.
You won't have to start over, just click on the colour bits and change then in you colour pallet.

You have to open the logo in it's native program (Illustrator or Photoshop) and convert it there.
Why are you trying to Seperate the file (I guess the printer asked you to)?
You do the seperating in Quark.
If you are still having trouble we will need to know what format the logo is in
(.eps or .tif)

Reading between the lines I am guessing you have a graphic file that has been created as an RGB image.
In Photoshop
Open the file, go to Image -> Mode -> CMYK
Resave the file.
Update the placed image in Quark by going to "usage -> Pictures".
You should see a list of images used in your document. The one you just changed to CMYK should have "modified" next to it.
Select it and click on Update. The status should change to "OK".
Choose Edit->Colours from the menus in Quark. Select "Show Spot Colours" and if any are listed, edit them and uncheck "Spot Colour".
Also Edit "Red", "Green" and "Blue" and change their colour model to CMYK if it is RGB.
I started writing instructions for Illustrator, but they are a little more complex so I will leave that for now in case you simply need the Photoshop instructions.
