i use adobe premiere 6.0 and i have tried to import my video clips to the bin but as they import i recieve an error saying "FIle uses un unsupported compression format"

in the past these very same clips were able to import with no problem at all. Is there anything in the settings or anything specific that i would have to buy/download in order to fix this error

* these clips are not cam they are .avi movie files ranging from 160 to 220 MB in size and my processor can handle them remember i said that these very clips were able to inport into the bin..."just like that" but my computer was reformatted and everything was re installed.

please give me a shout on how to fix this because i've tried to locate the problem for a whiile and have had no luck at all

You are missing the avi's specific codec.
It may be divX or Xvid or any of the others.
Can you play the avi's in media player?
