What is the best platform for MIMS - IBM 390, NT, etc..

WLH,<br><br>It depends on your requirement (in terms of number of users, local availability, IT staff skill etc) and the environment you want to run the application in. Environment would Enterprise-Wide,several sites in a local region, with 250 to 300 users.

wlh - (Sorry I don't have a christian name for you)...<br><br>Given the user numbers I would suggest that this only rules out 1 platform - the WinNT platform. MIMS will scale to this size, but most of our NT customers are smaller than this and you would need to ensure that you purchase a top end machine.<br><br>The other factors I spoke about previously include:<br><br>- existing environment - as this helps in terms of retraining and reskilling as well as the need to purchase additional hardware<br>- network requirements - <br>- current skill set within your IT department<br><br>I'm not trying to push you in any single direction here, so I would suggest that if you want to progress it further that you let me know more details about yourself and your company. Generally, clients in the size range you are referring to (250-300 concurrent users) run on medium sized Unix servers and Oracle or Sybase for an access method&nbsp;&nbsp;(e.g., HP:UX 1GB RAM 4 CPUs Multiple disk access channels).&nbsp;&nbsp;In this configuration (over wide area networks) on-line perfromance tends to be in the sub 5 second range.&nbsp;&nbsp;Local users tend to be sub-second.<br><br>Many MIMS users use this configuration so support well over 20 business locations sucessfully.&nbsp;&nbsp;Network overhead tends to be spent more on printing reports than on on-line use (MIMS is pretty network efficient).<br><br>Glen <p> Glen Colbert<br><a href=mailto: gcolbert@cyprus.com> gcolbert@cyprus.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>

We are running an IBM 9672 R35 series with OS390 MVS Open Edition, CICS and DB2. We are running MIMS 4.1 with 3270 and Smart GUI through a combination of network servers and routers. We are also using the machine to do a lot more than the MIMS application. We are also running a concurrent VM session and maybe a few straggling VSE applications that we are migrating.
