I just installed (4) Avaya 1616 IP telephones and plugged in our older Plantronics headsets (not sure of the model headset however it is a basic set "over the head" with 2 earpieces and a clear plastic micro). When I use the headset I have no problems hearing a caller however the caller cannot hear anyone. This issue is the same with all telephones. I tried turning off AGC on headset, etc.. but no luck. Anyone aware of a one-way audio issue with headsets on a 1616? Perhpas the headsets are not compatible in someway - even though they seem very basic?

You have the wrong bottom cord. Get the correct one for the 16xx handsets and they'll work fine.

Smash - I am confused about the botton cord? The headsets have a cord that ends with a flat disconnect. This then connects to the corresponding flat disconnect connector that is part of the cord that connects to the headset port ( I assume that this later portion is the "bottom cord" that you are referring to?) If this is the case then the purchase would be from Plantronics? I didn't know that they had different types if this is the case.

Also (just an FYI) all of these headsets were plugged into Avaya 6416 digital telephones and have no issues at all.

You are correct in your assumption. You can get direct from Plantronics or through any other reputable reseller.

I can't remember if it's a HIC or HIS cable. Your reseller should be able to confirm.

I looked at the part number and it translates to a Avaya HIC cord. So based on this you would think that the HIS cord would work?

Smash - After speaking with Plantronics it looks like you nailed it! I am ordering the HIS cables as I write this. Thank you Smash
