Good morning, Experts:
Ever have a project that just keeps getting bumped to the back of the queue because you're not quite sure how to start?
I was volunteered for a fun (???) project by a volunteer org I am a part of. The group gets an Excel from the national org with the name, phone, email of all the local members. We cover a tri-state area.
What I am supposed to do is to break the Excel up -- parse, really -- into members in states and email the local names to the various representatives for each state. In other words, Bob Jones from Indiana only gets the names from Indiana.
I would like to build something rather automated, and had thought of building a PHP upload page that jams the Excel into a mySQL database that parses the states that invokes sendmail to send the names to the right members.
How would you experts attack this job? I would appreciate any suggestions from filtering the data locally all the way on up.
If you've seen any scripts or even macros that do something like this, I'd be very grateful to learn where.
