Hi All,

I need to rollout a citrix server so that users can webaccess internal applications via public internet.

I got a firewall with dmz, just wondering where should I put the citrix server for best performance/security?

Should I put the app server & citirx server at lan side of firewall, open port 80 & 1494 for citrix server public access?

Or should I put the app server at lan side & citrix server at dmz, open port 80 & 1494 for citrix server public access, & open necessary ports between lan & dmz for citrix server & app server communications?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

If you run apps from an appserver to a citrix server, then putting the citrix server in the DMZ, will put a huge stress on the lan nic of the firewall.

If you do not run apps from an appserver, then you can centralise the citrix server in the DMZ.

Putting the citrix server on the LAN is asking for trouble.
I would suggest looking at the (free) CSG solution from Citrix, which is exactly what needs to be used for such setups.
