I am trying to promote a subordinate ca with a certificate we have from Linux Suse. I read an article that says to do this you must establish trust of the root authority by using the trusted root certification authorities policy setting in group Policy. However, another article says that in order to install a Subordinate Ca you must make a request file on the Subordinate Server and request the file from the non microsoft machine. Any Advice

Did they provide you with the certificate as a file? What other information did Suse give you... like the location of a Certificate revocation list and Certificate distribution point?

Yes it is a file, no other information was given. I am now trying to get another file, I made a request file from our Subordinate Ca and am importing that into the linux Root Server. Before installing this certificate that I get from the linux machine I plan on taking the actual root certificate from the linux machine and adding that to the Trusted Root Certifications Policy setting in Group Policy. That will allow all machines in the domain to trust the linux root CA. After that I will import the Certificate I got from the request file into the Subordinate Ca, then bring it online. Does this sound right?
