PIX 515E memory problem

Hi,

We've been using pix 515e for internet gateway for more than a year without any problem. problem started two days ago. It's memory, 64MB, fills up in 24 hours and internet connection becomes very slow. If reloaded, memory is low and internet is fine. But after around 15 hours it starts reaching 60 MB. pix log doesn't show anything different than before. No configuration change has been made. No vpn for this pix.
I'd appreciate your advice.

One of recently-deployed cisco 1720 routers dedicated to point-to-point connection has the PIX IP as its last resort gateway. removing the last resort gateway configuration solved the memory problem.

Here comes a different question. Is it okay not to have gateway of last resort configured in the router? it's only used for point-to-point connection and fine routing traffic going to the other end of the connection. would it cause any problem not to have gateway of last resort in this router dedicated to point-to-point connection?
