PIX 515 IOS upgrade?

I have a single PIX 515 currently running IOS 6.3(4) and PDM 3.0(2). I have been getting "websense packet error" messages everytime I connected to the console port on my PIX. We opened a case with Websense and their only recommendation was to upgrade my PIX IOS to 7.2(1). WOW, is that the easy way out for a vendor or what???

I have not upgraded my PIX IOS in some time since I have been looking for a replacement unit (actually a dual / redundant firewall). I'll probably go with the ASA 5520's, but I have not worked through that decision yet.

What do I need to consider to plan for this IOS upgrade to my PIX 515? For those of you that have gone through the 6.x.x to 7.x.x upgrade, how has it gone? What features are different in 7?

You will have to do it in stages. 6.3 to 7.0 and the 7.0 to 7.1.
