When local Win2K server has static IP assignment responst time to opening folders and documents is very slow, 30-90 seconds.
If Win2k server obtains its IP address via DHCP from the PIX box responses are under 5 seconds.
Setup local PC as temp server and worked 5x5 (PC had dhcp address)

We install new server ahead of schedule thinking it was a server problem but new server has same symptoms. Slow response with static IP and faster with DHCP.

Changes ports on local switch, new cabling, no errors on switch (100Full all around).

We are sending our a newer switch tomorrow --- just in case ---- go to do something.

PIX box is just out of warrenty.

Any suggestions.

THis may sound obvious, but are you certain that the DHCP addresses and the static addresses are in the same subnet and mask? It's a long shot, but...

Yes it sounds obvious but we will check anyway just in case. Would not be the first time we checked two, three, four times before I say it.
We done kicked out the walls of 'the box' on this one.

Maybe not a comm. problem at all. Removed all workstations from the AD Domain and re-joined the AD Domain seems to have fixed the problem.

Windows does like to corrupt it self from time to time.
