Can someone please translate the following:

"this utility helps change SiS IDE controller running from at PIO mode to at DMA mode under Win2000 without double restart the system."

Am I even supposed to be interested in using it?

Thank you,

JDL

If you are using PIO for your disk drives, (Ported Input Output Mode) then if DMA (Direct Memory Access Mode) will be much faster.

It may also be the only way to reliably burn to a CD Rom drive.

Look at the properties sheet of your IDE controllers in Device Manager. Check under the Advanced tab.

For anybody who is interested in this subject: I recently "re-installed" (with the repair option) win2k and somehow I could not get UDMA back whatever I tried.
Finally I found the solution with google: unstall the IDE-controllers, reboot and UDMA was back!
