currently I am not able to ping the yahoo site or for that matter anyother site from within my lan setup which is connected to ISP and Internet. I am able to surf the Internet. Now I want to ping the yahoo server from within my lan setup, whats the possibe way out

If you can access via http, but not ping, someone somewhere is blocking icmp packets. You can get an idea where by performing a traceroute. Wherever the packets drop, that's probably where the icmp is being blocked.

when I traceroute the IP address the first hop is my default gateway but after that the packet gets lost but still I 'm getting 30 hops with *, how cld 30 hops cld be displayed when after default-gateway its dropped. Also is there any way to add route in the router so that I can ping any specific IP address thru my Compu.

Are you pinging from a computer or a router? If a router, please post a show run. If from a computer with Windows XP SP2, thenturn off Windows Firewall and try. Also, please post a config of the gateway router. Are they Cisco devices? Thanks.

Look at what tracert does---it says a max of 30 hops. It will attempt 30 no matter what---the * * * means they're unreacheable. Sounds like XP SP2 firewall.

is there any way to configure my cisco router so that it allows the icmp packets to whats the commands to achieve this .thanks

It is not a matter of that---if there is a certain site that does not allow pings, then the configuration to allow them is on their end. A Cisco router does not DISallow pings or any packets to be sent out (or incoming, for that matter) by default. It won't dis you, man.
Are you pinging from the router or a pc?
Can you surf the internet?
Can you ping from a pc?
Can you ping from your router?
Can you ping you dns server(s) from a pc?
Can you ping your dns servers from the router?
Please answer these, and also posting a config like this...
router>en
router#sh run
would also be helpful. Otherwise, you are just being too vague with the information and questions you are posting. Thanks.

I am able to ping 203.124.16.100 from my router but when I ping this IP from my PC I am not able to ping. Is there any way out to configure my router so that this IP could be pinging from my PC. Thanks

I am still clueless, I believe router block ping to websites. can anybody provide me some help to configure my router so that it can pass ping to some particular websites.
I am able to ping from my router but not from my PC

Okay
PLEASE DO THESE COMMANDS...
router>en
router#sh run

AND POST THE RESULTS!!!!!!!!

Otherwise, nobody can help you. Are you running Win XP? SP2? Do you have Windows Firewall (or any other) turned on? If so, turn it off.
We cannot tell you which access-list(s) to take out or modify unless you post a running config.
