OK, might be a simple one or an impossible one, I'm not sure.

I'm trying to do an overview of our network (setup before I came here) and I'm starting with a list of static IP's. I've got most of them in the internal range, but a few of them ping with a reply but do not resolve (I'm assuming they are print servers or something).

Is there ANY way that I can find out roughly what they are before I have to trail around the place looking for them?

Thanks in advance
Mark

Mark,

If you can find the MAC addresses of the IP's, you can go to and enter the first six numbers of the MAC and it will tell you the manufacturer of that network card. This might be useful.
