Ping domain name bad, ping ip good

I'm experiencing a strange issue on a Win2k machine.

About once a day I am unable to ping domain names, but I can ping the domain's ip. For example; ping google.com will not reply, but ping 216.239.35.100 will reply.

My immediate thought was that this is a DNS issue. So I ran an nslookup on the dns that my NIC uses and it resolves to the correct servers. To make things more strange is, my 2k box is on a LAN with about 10 other machines (ranging from win98,NT4,2k,XP) of which they all use the same DNS that my box is using. All of the other boxes do not have the same problem that I do.

So it's not a problem with the name servers.

Rebooting fixes the problem, but I'm getting tired of doing that. I'm hoping that there is a way of actually making this problem going away for good.

Also for clarification, in addition to the ping tests that I ran, I entered google.com in my browsers url bar and rx'd the 'Cannot find page' error BUT when I entered googles ip address in the url bar I was able to get to the page. Meanwhile, everyone else on my LAN (that point to the same DNS's) have no probs with going to google.com.

Clues?
