pinball.inf

Add/Remove Windows Componets is giving me an error that "Setup was unable to open information file pinball.inf. Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x2 at line 20011812924" I can't get into the list to add or remove anything. Any ideas?

If pinball game is installed, there should be a pinball.inf file in c:\windows\inf folder.

If it's not there, look in c:\i386, there is a copy there, so try copying it into c:\windows\inf.

The pinball program & support files reside in c:\program files\windows nt\pinball. Check if there is anything in there (should be 60-odd files).

This may reveal other errors if there is a problem in the registry or system folders.

If you can now get into add/remove windows components, remove pinball and then reinstall it if you want it back.

there is no pinball.inf file anywhere on the c:\... not in the i386 or in program files\windows nt

i cannot get into the add remove components window because of this error. i need this error to go away.

1. Make a backup copy of the file %windir%\inf\sysoc.inf
2. Using Notepad, open the file %windir%\inf\sysoc.inf
3. Delete the line:
Pinball=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,pinball.inf,HIDE,7
4. Save the file

Try Add/Remove programs again.
