Hi All,

I have a pie chart in Excel - it just seems too small. If i highlight it and drag it out, it separates the pie. Is there any way to make it bigger??

TIA

Dan

Hi Plank,

What are you highlighting and dragging out? If you select the "Chart Area" (the whole frame), rather than the "Plot Area" (the pie itself) it should do what you want. If not can you come back with a bit more detail please.

Enjoy,
Tony

The chart is not embedded into a sheet.... it is an enitity on its own - it wont let me drag the whole lot out!

Thanks

Hi Plank,

If you click just outside the pie so that you get a rectangle around it (instead of it selecting the individual segments), you should be able to size it (in proportion) by grabbing the corner handles.

Enjoy,
Tony

Plank,

I hate to disagree with you, but it really sounds like you are NOT trying that. Read Tony's post again ...
"click just outside the pie so that you get a rectangle around it". This should definitely work.

Cheers, Glenn.

This is quite tricky.

Imagine a square box around the pie touching it at top bottom and left right. You have to click inside that box but outside the pie. eg about 10 o'clock.

To say click just outside the pie is misleading. That fails if you click just above or just below the pie as you are then outside the box.

When you click as indicated the box becomes visible and you can resize it.

If you having trouble clicking in the right place to get the plot-area select try using the arrow keys.

Use up/down to cycle thru the elements of a chart, like plot-area; data series; axis; titles.

Use the right/left to cycle thru items within an element, like points in a data series; legend entries.

Once you get to know the elements you will know exactly where to click in order to get the right thing.

Cheers
Andy

aha - got it... thanks...
