Php with ODBC

Hi there,
I'm a newbie to php and I want to write an application that connects to a not supported Database by using an ODBC connection.
Can anyone tell me where to find Information about using ODBC to connect to databases.

Any help would be appreciated.

actually now that i reread the question, php supports many databases natively...and has odbc support as well...
