Hi!

I've just installed php4/mysql/apache2 on winxp pro.
So far so good.. but...

when I view the phpinfo() page, certain values that I've edited in the ini file, aren't being picked up, e.g session.save_path and the register globals feature. the phpinfo() page is showing different values to the ini file.

I've deleted other copies of the ini file... checked and checked the install paths etc...

Before I go completely insane... can anyone suggest anything?????

thanks
luds

Yes, sleipnir214, ....php.ini is in C:\windows just as phpinfo() says

yes KempCGDR, I restart apache before checking

Sleipnir.. "Does the user as which Apache runs have access to php.ini? "

Where would I check this? php.ini...httpd config file??
and what line am I looking for?

Oh!!! I had this before.

I don't know what happens in Linux, but this'll happen in windows if you have a typo in your php.ini... if php can't parse the file, it'll just revert everything to default past that point.

Just delete your ini file, copy in the default, and make your changes again.

Sleipnir, I can't find a directive for "user". Is this an Apache v1 thing.. and it's different in version 2??

and as for the permissions.... I'm using an admin account on XP... so I should have permissions. shouldn't I? or have I got this wrong?

skiflyer.. see what you're saying... lol have read the post back in Feb when you had this prob!
But I have replaced the ini file a few times now... and it's still not picking it up :¬(

(that was february already!?) huh, are all the values default though? maybe you got a bad copy of the ini somewhere?

Let me elaborate on the user directive.

Go to services, righ click apache, choose properties, select the "log on" tab, by default it'll say Local System account... which would be the user "SYSTEM" if I'm not mistaken. You can change that to an admin and enter a username/password if you like.

Hi Everyone!

Think I may have had some bad files somewhere.. ended up deleting everything and reinstalling again... think I'm sorta back to where I started now!

Just like to thank all of you who responded to my initial post :¬)... it's always good to know that there are people out there that will help you.

No doubt I'll be posting in the near future again!

Thanks again
