I have used Photoshop for approximately one year on a part-time basis. However, I do not know anything about web design. My question is this:

I am designing a product update for a client that wants to send out monthly product updates to his customers. I would like to be able to design the page in photoshop or illustrator and then use that page to e-mail. My client does not want this page to be sent as an attachment. The page will include mostly text with a few graphics. My client also wants my to include hyperlinks on the page.

Is this possible to do with photoshop or illustrator? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Probably not the best forum to ask about sending Html Email with embedded images.

Well, I'm not an expert(at all*lol*),
But I don't think you would want to design it in photoshop(Yes for images - though I would imagine that you would keep these to a minimum) more like an HTML editor.

try this for a tutorial on HTML Email(Googled)...

here's some HTML basics

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

As an aside, sending html email is tricky and time consuming. Be VERY CAREFUL of the images you put on your mail. I have a client who sells feminine healthcare products and we designed an html email that had a very tasteful collage of woman (fully dressed) at the top left corner of the page. Below was text and links to her web site. The problems we ran into:

1: AOL users have a lot of trouble with html email. AOL doesn't want their users to receive this type of email and they make it very difficult for them to see graphics in their email.

2: Many users don't want html email and, if their email client permits, will block html email.

3: This one was a disaster - even though we were sending this to her opted-in customers, many of them complained to her hosting company about the "pornographic" images! Turns out that when they opened the email, the first thing they saw was the collage of women and assumed it was just another "spam" selling porn and sex! Her hosting company shut her down for two days and it took 5 days and many, many hours of phone calls to get her back online again! She now sends nothing but text email with links to her site. By conservative estimates, my client lost over $10,000 in business during that time - definately not worth it!

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
