Hey guys - ran across a weird problem today. I plug a phone into the system - it is a 7402 (which is not an option for a g3siv6) and then i can dial out straight. I can't put any * or # feature access codes in to give it an extension. It is just able to dial out as if it was on some analog card or something.

I traced this back and it goes to a digital line card. when i put a 7406 phone in - which is supported by the pbx the line is dead. This is really bizarre to me - any ideas on what is happening and how it could be fixed?

thanks.

what does it show when you status the port that you've plugged ii into?

it was set to another extension (from a previous config). I removed that port to free it. I still cannot tti in a port however...it is rejecting everything and seems to have just grabbed a line from the pbx somehow. Strange indeed.

so you deleted the station that the port was once assigned to...you can still plug that 7402 into the port and get outside dialtone without COR/COS working? if you 'status port XXXXX' after you have removed the old extension and while you are off hook on the 7402, what is shown?

i see the phone as being on-hook. It's as if the phone is not interacting with the pbx. But it is coming out of a pbx trunk because i am seeing hte number that i assigned to the trunk on the call display. Can this be possibly plugged into an analog card and im tracing it wrong? or is that impossible.

If you dial from it to another extension, and answer it status the station your calling, This will allow you to confirm the ports are correct.

It sounds like it's on another port.

74xx phones are digital phones... 71xx are analog...

hi 98converter i cannot call the internal extensions directly it gives me a fast busy. I can only make external calls directly without pressing 9 and the number that show is the number that i set on the trunk group to be shown which is a1877 number. Thanks.

Check your Cor that you have set up. Is it restricted from calling certain inside cors.

It sounds to me as though the station is setup as a Hotline dial 9 which we used to use when we swapped out a POTS line to a PBX line. The only real way to place an internal call is to establish an outside call and then attempt to transfer the call to an inside extension when and if you can get recall dial tone. Sometimes we would also disable hookswitch flash also though. And you're sure it's not a loop start line from the CO, right?

Hate to say this, but to be sure why not just plug in a tone generator and trace the line IDF by IDF? It's a little more work, but at least you'd have an answer right away....
