How can I trace a phantom caller to a digital extension? One of my end users gets a call daily that just beeps. I do not have CAS and would like to avoid calling the telco.
thanks.

It is probably a wayward spam fax. Have the user transfer the call to a fax server or fax machine and the phantom calls should end.

Hy,
I would like to know in first if you have an access to avaya helpdesk. If yes, it was the best solution for you because on Avaya system you have a trace tools called MST and with this tools we could saw from where this call come but you need to call avaya for analyse the files.

besides of the mst, you can use a list trace station xxx command. if the caller is using any cli you can use it there. otherwise, you would need the cli to reroute the phantom calls because otherewise the extension would be un usable.

i think the list trace station command could be very nice.

another option is to set up the cdr to a serial port which you let capture all the cdr details of a certain period. after the period you could find the specific extension in the to expect extreme large textfile. but it is doable!
