Hi,

I get a error message when I try to edit or delete a macro (excel). I got this from our forum:

Creating a Macro and storing it in the Personal.xls workbook makes it available to all workbooks.
But, if you want to edit the macro and go to Tools/Macros, select the macro and click on edit you get the message:
"Cannot edit a macro on a hidden workbook. Unhide the workbook using the unhide command."
However, Help does not contain an Unhide item to explain how to unhide the workbook. What to do?
Locate the Personal.xls file on your system. It should be in:
Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart
on the drive where you installed MS Office.
Select the file Personal.xls and open it. The Title Bar will show the file name as "BookN" rather than Personal.xls.
Now click on Windows on the Menu Bar then click on Unhide. Select Personal.xls and click on OK.
Now you can go to Tools/Macros and edit the Macro using the VB editor.

But when I try to do this, I cannot find the personal.xls file/folder. But still I can save macros in that folder and execute. But the annoying part is I cannot edit or delete the macro....

Any help will be grateful. Thanks

Raj

In Excel, record a macro and where it says "store in" drop down the box and click personal macro workbook.

Stop recording and then press Alt + F11

You should now be able to view personal.xls

Also, after doing this you can select the actual personal workbook by clicking > unhide > personal from within excel.

Hope this helps,

Rgds, John
