Personal Introduction and Design Program Question

My name’s Jonathan, and I’m with Telecom System Solutions USA (we go by TSS USA these days — the full name’s a bit of a leftover from when we did more traditional telecom work).

We’re based in Pinellas Park, FL (Tampa Bay area) and focus mainly on structured cabling. For a long time, we were a classic mom-and-pop operation, good work, just not always polished. But we’ve been trying hard to step things up: better branding, tighter processes, cleaner installs, community involvement, and investing in our techs. We’re trying to make the shift from “getting it done” to being a company that really stands out.

One of the next things I’m looking to add is more capability around design. I use Bluebeam and have a custom symbol toolbox that lets me mark up plans, do takeoffs, and build estimates. But I’d like to go further and actually produce design drawings, things like:
  • Server room layouts with ladder rack, racks, and cable management
  • Rack elevations with patch panels, switches, vertical/horizontal management
  • Full building layouts with cable tray paths, drop locations, WAPs, and camera placement
If anyone has a platform they’ve used for that kind of layout/design work, especially for low voltage, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

And since I’m proud of the work our crew puts in, here TDR we just finished.(not my work, but one of our guys)
And a time-lapse of the process.
