When opening up outlook it crashes, I found this problem related to a personal folder that is set up. I removed the personal folder and opened up outlook and it opened up fine but when I went to add the personal foder back it locked every time I tried.
I tried to open the personal folder on my machine but got an error message stating that it was corrupt.
The personal folder is 1.75GB is size.
Is there any way i can get this personal foder open as it contaisn work critical information.
Outlook version 98 running windows 98.

Have you tried running the Inbox repair tool on it? (do a search of your hard drive for SCANPST.EXE)
Note: I would take a copy of the PST first and run it, so it it gets worse (scanpst can't fix everything) you can reinstate the older copy.

Start Outlook with a clean PST and import data from the the bad PST (File/Import).
I had this problem sometimes when Outlook 97/98 crashed while sending mail and the PST was larger than 800MB. Fixed the problem by importing data to a new PST.
BTW, make sure your PST won't get any larger than already. You might use AutoArchive to let Oulook put older items into another PST and keep your main PST small. Don't forget to compress your PST.
