I have a customer with a 406V2 & 3.2 software. They are looking for personal CO lines on their phones. They will also have Telco provided voicemail on these lines which will put 'stutter' dialtone when there is a message. So I have the line appearances programmed to ring on the phone(s), which works fine, and if they press the line appearance button and dial a call, it will go out over their respective CO lines, works fine. My question or thought is they will not hear the stutter dialtone, because when they press the line appearance button, they are not actually 'grabbing' CO dialtone yet. Am I correct in thinking this??

Thanks, you folks are the best!!

(btw, would'n it be great if they just had a 'PCOL' instead of having to go to 3 different screens to program one?)
ok, done ranting
thanks again

You are correct. The system is providing "dialtone" until all digits are received. I don't believe there is a way to get around this.

Any way to enable the personal CO to go off-hook immediately?

From what I can tell, no. There does not seem a way to program 'Auto Line Select' (as in the Partner or Merlin). I'm certainly no expert on the IPO, so maybe someone can give a more definite answer.

Never used tyhis, worth a try?

Typically, when a line appearance key is selected, secondary dial tone is generated. When the line appearance is mapped to a short code using the DialDirectHotLine short code feature, no secondary dial tone is generated and the number is dialed directly.

Below is a sample short code using the DialDirectHotLine feature. The short code *83* should then be set as the prefix for the particular line required.

Short Code: *83*

Telephone Number: .

Feature: DialDirectHotLine

The reason I ask is in the Financial Services market, there are Automatic Ring Down lines which terminate to the PBX as a CO Trunk. The user has the Personal CO on his phone and when he/she presses the line it needs to route to the CO Trunk (which then sends the ringtone to the other end of the circuit)...

In the past we've never been able to get these to automatically go off-hook (you can do this in definity / Communication Manager)...
