Having a problem with permissions on certain files. Two files within a shared directory on my brand new W2K server need to have more restricted permissions. (Admin group full control, defined users with read, three specific users with modify). Everyone/full control removed.
Every few hours the event log tells me that the group policy object was applied successfully, and these files revert to everyone/full control and the owner changes back to a user who shouldn't own it.
Went to the group policy settings for the domain (single new domain on a single server w/AD) and specifically added the directory to windows settings/security system/file system with instruction not to replace. Also tried doing just those two files there, replacing them in GPO with appropriate permissions, but always, they revert.
I don't get it. I've set up about a dozen W2K servers and never had this issue before. It's been a couple of years since I took the tests... I *think* it has to do with GPO but I just don't know why I can't get this to stop. Another post mentioned this, but their fix didn't do it for me. Any suggestions?
