Scenario ~
I have an access 2000 database running on a compaq proliant server running nt 4.0 terminal server and citrix metaframe.
Access 2000 has a facility that provides for the compaction of the database upon close. In a nutshell, the compact basically copies the database, compacted, to an .Mdb file with the same name as the source database.
When i tried this option on the database, when the database closes, the compact runs as advertised but with a result that is less than desirable.
What is happening is, after the compact runs and the new database is created, for whatever reason I am not sure, the NT security "permissions" on the database are lost and when the users try to open the database, they get an access denied error from NT and I have to go in and re-apply the user permissions to the database.
I think it may have something to do with the fact that the Compact actually creates a new database and somehow in the process the security permissions on the database get hosed.
Does anyone have a solution for this or anyone else have a similar issue they solved ??
Thanks !
Paul
