Hi everyone, was just wondering if anyone out there has any idea how to create a standalone perl/tk program...? I've looked everywhere for the answer and nobody seems to know. I love perl and enjoy using tk with it, but if I can't write a program and distribute it to people who don't have perl installed, what's the real point...?

Tried perl2exe - didn't work, don't think it likes tk....

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I tried to do that with the perl compiler but you need a full set of Win32 development libraries. I know the lcc Win32 compiler seems to have them all for free but I never got any further than that. One answer I always give to zealots who say that one con of perl is you need the perl executable, is to harp on about how godamn useful the perl executable is anyway and all good PCs and workstations should have it anyway.

I have done several of these with Perl on a Win NT machine and activestate's perlApp. PerlApp lets you 'compile' the code into a stand-alone app that will run on Win PCs that don't have perl. Unfortunately for us perl people that like our free solutions, this one costs a little mooolah. See for their perl developer's kit. 'hope this helps
