perl module error

When I am trying to install module MIME:base64 and when I run the make command, I get the error:

/usr/ucb/cc: language optional software package not installed
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `Map.o'

I have found that this may be due to the fact it was created using SUN Forte. Is there any option I can do to get this to run?

I got around this by uninstalling the perl package canned with Solaris and reinstalled using gcc. Now I have no issues installing any modules...
