I have configured 16 Networker clients to a single Networker server, 16 adv_file type devices is added.
Each file type with a target session of 1 and server parallelism with 16 and client parallelism as 16 is configured.
Scaling the clients one by one shows that after 8 clients the server is memory bound.
Networker server is installed on RHEL4Update3.
vmstat shows that we are using only 192 MB max eventhough server is having 4GB of ram.
How to tune the memory either on RHEL or on legato to gain the performance?

Tuning usually needs a much closer look to the environment than just knowing these values.

However, increasing the client parallelism to 16 and leaving the server parallelism to 16 as well does not make sense - you should set it to 16 x 16 = 256.

Be careful - it might not make sense to increase the client parallelism at all. If the max. data rate can be achieved by a single data stream (benchmarks) then increasing the client parallelism would be useless.

Also you should consider how the AFTDs are setup - do they have their own disk (best case) or do they all reside on the same disk (worst case).

You may also want to consider the usage of storage nodes.
