hi,

this might be quite a simple question but unfortunately we haven't been able to figure out detailled information on this topic yet:

We'd like to improve the performance of our record selection formulas (especially when accessing SAP tables). There are some basic statements concerning this matter within the crystal reports online help and the tek-tips FAQs, but what we'd really like to see would be a list of common rec.-sel.-fomula-expressions (e.g. lastfullmonth, last7days, date(...)) which describes if and how these are being forwarded to and processed on the database-server or how such selection formulas could be modified to be of optimized performance.

any help's appreciated :)

By the way, we're using CR8.5/CE8.5 (with Solution Kit vor SAP V2)

Check the Database->Show SQL Query to determine if a record selection is being passed to the database.

I have a FAQ in the Crystal Formulas forum which touches on building a record selection formula, with some helpful tips such as seperating each clause with parenthesis, don't use variables, and fully qualifying both sides of IF-ELSE statements.

If you have some specific concerns, please post them. The above Crystal functions can pass SQL, though if you work at it you can prevent them from doing so also ;)

synapsevampire,

the Show SQL Query is no valid option when dealing with SAP data (this menu item is then not accessable).

Due to some testing our R/3-administration has finally scheduled, we're making progress debugging the ABAP-code that is generated by the solution kit.

nevertheless thanks for your reply!
