Hi,

Has anybody heard of any performance issues relating to the use of Impromptu 6.1 or 7.0 with UDB. I've heard rumblings of problems but cannot find any articles/white papers to back up the stories.

Any comments on this would be very helpful.

Thanks

Brad

I don't see any performance-related complaints about IWR and UDB in the Cognos Knowledgebase. There are a number of calls about specific errors, but they indicate that, other than the error conditions (which are fixable), the combination works well.

Theoretically, there shouldn't be any problems with Impromptu and UDB, just like any other RDBMS. (On a side note, I remember that UDB DB Catalog had some performance issues with huge quantities of simultaneous Create/Drop Table statements, but Impromptu doesn't do that.

I'd try running the SQL query against a TestODBC type of a tool to see if the performance problem is related to UDB or not. Hope that helps.
