I am not a developer and only look after the servers. However, our developers are complaining about SQL*Server 7 since I installed Service Pack 3. Their queries took 2 seconds to run before installing SP3 and now take 22 seconds to run since. We tested this on another server without the service pack and it went back to 2 seconds, then after applying the service pack the time increased to 24 seconds. Does anyone know why this might happen and what we can do to bring it back down without de-installing the service pack?

A quick check of MSDN didn't turn up any reports on this issue, so I'll resort to semi-educated guessing:

Try running UPDATE STATISTICS and see if that helps (I don't know why installing a service pack would delete the stats, but who knows?) Robert Bradley
