i'm about to replace a few servers
i'm curious about disk performace

all the data volumes will be held on a san using 36gb scsi 15k's
in the physical server we will have a mirrored pair just for dos partition and the sys

will we see a difference if these disks are
scsi2 10k 18gb
scsi3 10k 18gb
scsi3 15k 18gb

i have lots of the 18's lying about but dont want to use them if they will impacted but shame to waste them

I would drop the SCSI2 unless you have the 2 SCSI3 working at the same speed as the first one.

If your controler is a scsi3 (eventually a U160 or U320), and the SCSI3 you have there are also U160 then I would definitely not mix then with a SCSI2.

The 10K v 15K may not be relevant for this.

This is just my opinion, and I may be wrong.

(And I wouldn't mind having a few spare 18gb ones. Where are you from?)
