Performance Alerts are not working ??

hi,
I tried different performance alerts including transaction log size nad uesr defined alert but non is working. However, i am able to raise custom numberd error using RAISERROR.
Do you have any suggestions?? Also, their is no entry in win2000 performance log /event log and alerts shows that they are not activated/triggered however, the state data is in, it should raise alerts.

Also, in sql agent service -> Alet system -> to /cc. Which emial address should these fileds contain and what are these entries used for?

well, I figure it out myself. The problem was, while in operator property dialog -> notificaiton tab, no alerts were selected to be notified to the operator. I selected proper mode of notification for desired alerts and it was all well.
